Welcome to Firefly Studio by Ola!

Every piece I create is made with care, curiosity and a love for giving beautiful objects a second life. These Terms & Conditions explain what you can expect when purchasing from my studio, including ready-made pieces, made-to-order creations and Forever Flowers.

1. About Firefly Studio

Firefly Studio by Ola is an independent creative studio based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, specialising in one-of-a-kind lighting and home décor made using vintage and repurposed materials.

2. Scope of these terms

These Terms & Conditions apply to purchases made through the Firefly Studio website, direct orders confirmed by email or messaging, and made-to-order commissions.

For purchases made through third-party platforms or partner shops, additional platform or retailer terms may apply. Your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.

By placing an order, you acknowledge that you have been given the opportunity to read these terms before completing your purchase.

3. One-of-a-kind and vintage materials

Every Firefly Studio creation is unique. I work with carefully selected vintage glass, ceramics, metal, wood and other reclaimed materials. Many of these objects have lived a previous life, which is part of their charm and character.

Because of the nature of vintage materials, pieces may show minor signs of age, such as small scratches, air bubbles, slight discolouration, variations in texture or other imperfections.

I carefully select and inspect the materials used in my creations. Any significant known imperfections that affect the appearance, functionality or safety of a product will be disclosed before purchase.

Photographs are intended to represent each piece as accurately as possible. However, colours may vary slightly depending on lighting and screen settings.

All dimensions and weights are approximate unless otherwise specified.

4. Prices and payments

All prices are displayed in euros (€). Applicable VAT treatment will be indicated in accordance with Dutch tax regulations, including where the small businesses scheme or margin scheme applies.

Shipping costs and any other applicable charges will be clearly communicated before you confirm your order.

Payment can be made using the payment methods offered during checkout or those agreed upon for direct orders.

For made-to-order commissions, any deposit, instalment or payment schedule will be confirmed in writing before work begins.

Orders are subject to acceptance by Firefly Studio. If an order cannot be fulfilled, any payment already received for the unavailable product will be refunded.

5. Made-to-order commissions

I love creating something personal for your home. Made-to-order projects begin with a discussion of your ideas, preferred colours, materials, dimensions, budget and any other relevant details.

Before starting, I will provide a proposal or written confirmation describing the agreed design, price, estimated completion time and payment arrangements.

Because many materials are vintage and one of a kind, the availability of specific objects cannot always be guaranteed. Any significant substitutions or changes to the agreed design will be discussed with you before proceeding.

Once a commission is confirmed and work has begun, requests for changes may affect the price and completion date. Any additional costs will be agreed upon before the changes are made.

6. Customer-supplied materials

You are welcome to discuss incorporating your own glass, ceramics or other meaningful objects into a custom design.

I will assess whether the materials appear suitable for the intended project. Some objects may be unsuitable because of their thickness, fragility, shape, condition or other technical limitations.

Working with older glass and ceramics can involve risks, particularly when drilling, cutting or modifying them. I will explain any significant risks identified before proceeding and will take reasonable care when handling your materials.

If an object cannot safely be used as originally planned, I will discuss alternative design possibilities with you. Any arrangements concerning particularly valuable or sentimental objects should be confirmed in writing before work begins.

7. Production and delivery times

Ready-made products will normally be prepared for dispatch within the timeframe indicated at checkout or agreed upon when ordering.

Made-to-order pieces require additional production time. The estimated completion date will be communicated before your order is confirmed.

As each creation is handmade and often depends on unique materials or specialist components, unforeseen delays can occasionally occur. If this happens, I will contact you as soon as possible to discuss the revised timeline.

Your statutory rights regarding late or non-delivery remain unaffected.

8. Shipping, packaging and collection

All products are carefully packed with particular attention to protecting delicate vintage glass and ceramics.

Available shipping destinations, delivery methods and costs will be communicated before purchase. Large, heavy or particularly fragile pieces may require special delivery arrangements.

You may also collect your order from my studio in Eindhoven by appointment, where this option is available.

For consumer orders, Firefly Studio remains responsible for loss or damage during delivery until you, or a person you have designated, receive the product, except where the law provides otherwise.

For deliveries outside the European Union, import duties, customs fees and local taxes may apply. Any such charges that are payable by the customer will be communicated where reasonably possible.

9. Damaged deliveries

Despite careful packaging, accidents can happen during transport.

If your order arrives damaged, please contact me as soon as reasonably possible at ola@fireflystudio.nl.

To help me investigate the damage and arrange a suitable solution, please include photographs of the damaged item, the packaging and the shipping label, if available.

Please retain the packaging until we have discussed the next steps.

Depending on the circumstances and your legal rights, an appropriate solution may include a repair, replacement, refund or another agreed remedy.

Because many creations are unique, an identical replacement may not be possible. This does not affect your statutory rights.

10. Returns and the right of withdrawal

For eligible online and distance purchases, you have the legal right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days after receiving your order, without providing a reason.

To exercise this right, please contact ola@fireflystudio.nl or use the withdrawal function on the website, where available. You may also use the withdrawal form provided below.

After notifying me of your decision, you have another 14 days to return the product.

Products must be packed carefully and securely to prevent damage during return transport. You are responsible for the direct cost of return shipping, unless otherwise agreed or required by law.

You may inspect your purchase as you would in a physical shop. If you handle it beyond what is necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and functioning, you may be responsible for any resulting reduction in value.

Once you have withdrawn, I will refund the amount due, including the original standard delivery charge where applicable, within 14 days. I may withhold the refund until I receive the returned product or proof that you have sent it back, whichever occurs first.

Refunds will be made using the original payment method unless we agree otherwise.

Custom-made products

The statutory right of withdrawal does not apply to products genuinely made to your individual specifications or clearly personalised for you, where the legal exception applies.

I will inform you before purchase if your commission qualifies for this exception. Your statutory rights concerning defective or incorrectly supplied products remain unaffected.

11. Cancellation of custom orders

If you wish to cancel a made-to-order project, please contact me as soon as possible at ola@fireflystudio.nl.

For projects that legally qualify for the personalised-goods exception, cancellation arrangements will depend on the agreed terms and the stage of production. Any applicable cancellation costs will be explained and agreed upon before you place your order.

Where the statutory right of withdrawal applies, it takes precedence over any contractual cancellation arrangements.

12. Product safety and care

Firefly Studio lamps are intended for use according to the safety and installation instructions supplied with each product.

Only use the specified bulb type and wattage. Where a lamp is marked for LED bulbs only, do not use incandescent or halogen alternatives.

Electrical lamps are intended for dry indoor spaces unless expressly identified as suitable for another environment. They must not be used in bathrooms, outdoors or other damp locations unless specifically designed and rated for such use.

Ceiling and wall lamps must be securely installed using suitable fixings for their weight and mounting surface. Where appropriate, installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.

Always disconnect a lamp from the electricity supply before cleaning or replacing a bulb. Do not use a lamp if its cable, plug, fitting or electrical components appear damaged.

Forever Flowers

Forever Flowers are decorative glass and metal creations. Although designed for outdoor display, they should be protected from freezing conditions, strong impacts and extreme weather.

Install each flower securely on a stable surface or suitable support. Handle glass components carefully and keep them away from areas where they may be accidentally knocked over.

Clean with mild soap and water. Do not place the glass components in a dishwasher.

13. Warranty and statutory rights

All Firefly Studio products are covered by applicable statutory consumer guarantees.

If a product is defective, does not match its description or fails to meet the reasonable expectations established at purchase, please contact me at ola@fireflystudio.nl so that I can investigate and arrange an appropriate solution.

The use of vintage materials does not remove your statutory warranty rights. However, characteristics of age and wear that were clearly disclosed before purchase are part of the agreed product description.

Damage caused by misuse, improper installation, unsuitable cleaning or accidents after delivery is not normally covered, unless the law provides otherwise.

14. Intellectual property and photographs

All original designs, photographs, website content, text and other creative material produced by Firefly Studio remain the intellectual property of Firefly Studio or their respective rights holders.

They may not be reproduced or used commercially without prior written permission, except where permitted by law.

For commissioned work, any arrangements concerning the publication of customer-supplied photographs or personal information will be discussed separately.

15. Privacy

Your personal information will be used only for legitimate purposes, including processing orders, communicating about commissions, arranging deliveries and meeting legal obligations.

16. Complaints and resolving problems

If you have a question, concern or complaint about your purchase, please contact me at ola@fireflystudio.nl.

I aim to acknowledge complaints within two working days and to work towards a fair solution as quickly as reasonably possible. If a complaint requires further investigation, I will keep you informed.

Nothing in these terms limits your right to pursue any statutory remedy or seek assistance from an appropriate consumer protection body.

17. Liability

Firefly Studio is responsible for its obligations under the purchase agreement and applicable law.

Customers are responsible for following the safety, care and installation instructions provided with their products.

Any limitations of liability in these terms apply only to the extent permitted by law. Nothing excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded or restricts mandatory consumer rights.

18. Governing law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by Dutch law.

If you are a consumer living in another country, you retain any mandatory consumer protections that apply under the relevant law.

Disputes will be handled by the competent courts in accordance with applicable jurisdiction rules.

19. Changes to these terms

Firefly Studio may update these Terms & Conditions when necessary, including to reflect changes to its products, services or applicable legislation.

The version provided to you when you place your order will generally apply to that purchase, subject to mandatory legal requirements.
